In a career spanning over 20 years, Girish has worked with NASSCOM (National Association of Software and Service Companies), Bechtel Corporation, Bechtel Management Consulting, Reliance Industries, Toyo Engineering India as well as on projects mainly funded by international donor agencies.
As an independent trade, policy and strategy consultant, Girish has been advising on policy and regulatory matters, market entry strategy, development of new markets mainly for SMEs, cross-border trade in services, e-governance and social programmes. He started out his own advisory firm in 2008.
Girish took up the role of Secretary General of IBF in August 2015. Prior to this, he worked with NASSCOM for over six years. During his stint at NASSCOM as the head of public policy and affairs, he worked on emerging issues related to the promotion of domestic and international markets in IT software and services- including legal and taxation issues, good governance programs, interface with various Cabinet Ministries and State Governments. He was also responsible for coordinating with various High Commissions/Embassies in India on bi-lateral and multi-lateral issues, preparation of country strategy papers, exploring synergies for bi-lateral co-operation, issues related to WTO/GATS, etc. His additional duties and responsibilities at NASSCOM included preparation of research-based policy and advocacy papers in close consultation with industry, maintaining a regular debate with concerned Cabinet Ministries and preparation of blueprint papers on emerging issues for dissemination of information to NASSCOM member companies.
Girish has vast experience of working with various Government Committees and programmes. He played an instrumental role as a member of Empowered Committee for one of the most challenging and prestigious e-governance programme- modernization of direct and indirect tax system, Ministry of Finance, Government of India. In addition, he also worked with some of the key government programmes including Kelkar Committee on Defense Procurement Reforms, Taskforce on National Rural Livelihood Mission, Standing Committee on Modernization of Power Sector using IT solutions, and several other mission mode e-Governance programs mainly falling under the ambit of Central Ministries.
As a part of his regular contributions in various reforms driven tasks by Government of India, most recently, Girish played a key role working with Core Committee and its Sub-groups constituted by Ministry of Corporate Affairs for driving one of the major reforms in global accounting system – IFRS in India. In this effort, Girish helped Ministry in a great way by bringing all major private sector CFOs from various sectors to generate a national level consensus. Girish was also member of Government delegation on IFRS to Japan for exchanging dialogues on issues associated with implementation of IFRS.
Prior to NASSCOM, for over a decade, Girish worked with Bechtel India, Reliance Industries and Toyo Engineering India. His primary responsibility included development of large-scale energy and telecom projects, project management, conducting feasibility studies, formulation of new business plans, formulation and administration of contracts.
In addition to above, Girish has extended his valuable contributions in some of the prestigious research assignments funded by private sector, donor agencies and Government of India (Central and State). Research assignments include the area of cross-border trade, South Asia Regional Cooperation, domestic reforms etc.
Girish holds a Bachelors' Degree in Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Warangal. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi.
Mr. Ashish Sinha
Secretary General, BCCC
Ashish, an MA in Political Science from JNU, was appointed BCCC’s Secretary General in May 2012, soon after the IBF Board of Directors decided to arm the Council with a full-fledged Secretariat. With his team, Ashish is responsible for processing the complaints received by BCCC and presenting them before the Council for action. Team BCCC interfaces between the Council on the one hand and the government, the broadcasters, the civil society and the media on the other. Before joining BCCC, Ashish was Deputy Chief of the National Bureau atMail Today, the daily newspaper published by the India Today Group. An alumnus of Patna College and Sainik School Tilaiya, Ashish, a newspaper journalist since 1995, has worked with The Times of India, The Telegraph,Hindustan Times, Mainstream and The Pioneer.
Mr. Radhakrishnan Nair
Secretary, IBF
Radhakrishnan Nair, Secretary, IBF has been associated with the Foundation since 2001. He has interacted with most industry stalwarts and has been an active participant in shaping the sector.
Mr. Nair's 33 years experience in publications, television and the Foundation helps him lead broadcaster-credit issues, manage the Foundation's day-to-day functioning, orchestrate several issues in various forums and committees, help in advocacy with the government and in particular, weigh in on legal and regulatory issues with deft counsel.
A post-graduation in public administration and a career beginning in sales bely Mr Nair's achievements in media and one of its apex sector associations.
An avid follower of Lord Ayappa, RK as he is more often called, is associated with many socio-religious activities in the National Capital Region.
Mr. Vishal Koushik
Assistant Director, BCCC
Vishal has been Assistant Director with BCCC since April 2012. An alumnus of St. Xavier’s College (Ranchi) and Indian Institute of Mass Communication (New Delhi), he has wide experience of working with various leading television channels in different capacities. Vishal began his career with Sahara Samay, the Hindi news channel of Sahara Group in 2000. After working briefly with Aaj Tak, he moved on to CNN-IBN and was part of the channel’s launch team. In 2007, he joined News X as Executive Producer and Head of Assignment and was instrumental in setting up the channel’s various bureaus under the guidance of Industry stalwart Peter Mukherjea. Vishal is an avid movie watcher and likes to read a lot. He assists the Council in addressing complaints and dealing with other content-related matter.
Mr. Amit Dhiman
Senior Executive
A computer nerd at heart, Amit attended Ramjas School in Delhi. He is a Commerce graduate from DU and is specializing in Business Management - Finance/Marketing from Symbiosis, Pune.
He also holds diplomas in Software Programming & IT Networking Solutions as also Office Management & Secretarial Practice. Before joining IBF in October 2001, Amit had worked in various Commercial & Sales positions in Aviation and Power Transmission sector companies including Supreme Aviation (Singapore), RPG Transmission etc. A jack of all trades, Amit is a part of almost all activities at IBF from mainstream to administration. He enjoys adventure sports, music and films.
Ms. Manvi Dewan
Complaints Analyst
Manvi joined BCCC in August 2011 soon after its inception. A commerce graduate from DAV College (Chandigarh), she is a Masters in Mass Communication and also holds an MBA (Off Campus) in Marketing from Panjab University. Manvi is responsible for processing the complaints received by BCCC and presenting them before the Council for action. She also coordinates with the channels and the Ministry of I&B in the content related issues.
Manvi did her media internship at The Times of India in Chandigarh and filed several news and sports stories. She was also a casual announcer at All India Radio, Chandigarh. An alumnus of Little Flower Convent School (Panchkula) and DAV Senior Secondary School (Chandigarh), Manvi is an avid TV viewer and loves to travel and cook international cuisines.
Ms. Savithri Sayeeram
Executive Assistant to Secretary General
Savithri has more than 15 years of experience in Secretarial functions. Other than managing the front office operations, she keeps herself abreast with all that happens in the Industry. She actively follows the deliberations of the crucial IBF-AAAI meetings and also provides all secretarial help to the IBF and BCCC staff. Savithri has earlier worked with prominent companies like IndChem and Exhibitions India. She is a graduate in English Literature from Madurai Kamaraj University and a Diploma in stenography. She is enthralled by Carnatic music.
